Background

RedZebra won the tender to design and deliver a Leadership Programme, using our unique and experiential approach. We have been working with Discovery for three years now delivering the GROW Programme.

The Brief

To design and deliver an international Leadership & Development Programme to enhance the skills and abilities of Discovery Networks professionals by:

  • Providing delegates with an opportunity to learn leadership concepts and techniques relevant for developing others and gaining better self-awareness and insight
  • Equipping delegates with the confidence to address performance issues, take risks and contribute to the organisation in new ways

The Solution

Our Leadership Programmes are designed to take the participants on a journey from insight to impact. We have designed a four-module programme that takes place over 10 months, providing the delegates the all-important time in between modules to implement and practice what they have learnt.

Creating the conditions for a successful programme:

Each module has pre-work that sets the tone and thinking of the upcoming session. Following on from each module in what we call the Momentum Stage, is a mix of Action Learning group work, coaching, follow up supporting materials as well as the pre-work ahead of the next module.

A 360 feedback process is set up before and after the programme to help delegates measure their own development and impact. Another key concept to the programme was to bring in Discovery Executive Leaders at the opening of each module.

They share their story and insights about the business not only adding essential market knowledge, but also adding a huge amount of prestige to the programme and in turn to the delegates.

Module One: Leaders of Ourselves

The foundation of developing people is opening up personal awareness of self, what makes you tick and what strengths you can leverage. The themes drawn out in Module One create a thread throughout the programme.

Module Two: Leaders of Our People

All our leadership development has a strong focus on “Our People” – i.e. the people and teams the leaders are impacting. This module adds tools and techniques as well as the direct application of learning back to the office.

Module Three: Leaders of Our Business

This module opens up the delegates to strategic thinking and breakthrough thinking. How to generate the ideas that will deliver the business performance in todays changing world. The cohort design real business project ideas that embody senior leadership perspective and breakthrough ideas. They will be presented to the Discovery Executive board in Module Four.

Module Four: Leadership Impact Project

Projects have been developed and are presented to the Discovery Executive. The process is debriefed through the lens of their leadership development enabling the delegates to measure how their leadership has developed over the programme.
