Background

In 2003, RedZebra were engaged by dance4life to design a tour

programme with the aim of inspiring, mobilising and uniting

young people to fight against HIV and AIDS.

“dance4life is a wonderful example of how the talent and strength of young people can energise our struggle.”

Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations

The Brief

dance4life’s mission is to

  • empower young people to make safe sexual choices and bring an end to AIDS, unplanned pregnancies and sexual violence.

The Solution

RedZebra designed a tour that has travelled to schools throughout the world to raise awareness, educate and empower young people. We use our experiential tools and techniques to inspire young people to become involved in this amazing programme.

Each team we train uses the vehicle of music and dance as a universal language, mobilising and inspiring young people to take action in their communities. The tour takes people on a journey using motivational tools that stimulate dialogue and peer education.

We also created a signature dance that symbolised the commitment the young people had to making a difference in their communities. This dance was to become the focal moment for the celebration events that would bring together all the young people in stadiums around the world.

Over the last ten years RedZebra have trained people in 28 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

To date, our programme has reached more than 1.4million young people, with over 650,000 of them going on to become agents4change, to spread the message still further.

Since 2003, we have trained tour teams in 33 countries who in turn have reached 1.4 million young people. In the next two years we aim to reach a further 1.2 million young people.

The Result

“dance4life is a wonderful example of how the talent and strength of young people can energise our struggle.”

Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations
